Castro Daire

Castro Daire: An official EN2 stop combining the Paiva valley, Montemuro mountain, the town centre and the separate Carvalhal thermal area.

Castro Daire is a transition village between the Douro and the lands of Viseu, with the Paiva river and the Montemuro mountains defining the territory. The center allows for a brief break, while the Carvalhal Hot Springs, the mountain villages and the routes near Paiva require additional travel. EN2 does not replace these local roads; Weather conditions and fires can alter access to the mountain. The great crossing of the Portuguese interior, with around 739 km between Trás-os-Montes and the Algarve.
