Viana do Alentejo preserves a pentagonal castle in the center, with the Main Church integrated into the enclosure. The white streets, the pottery tradition and the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora de Aires, outside the center, complete the local identity. The sanctuary and the village can be combined into a calm stop, but pilgrimages and fairs change access on their own dates. Avoid the hottest hours inside the walls. The great crossing of the Portuguese interior, with around 739 km between Trás-os-Montes and the Algarve.
