Framing

The International Tagus protects the border section of the Tagus and associated valleys in Castelo Branco, Idanha-a-Nova and Vila Velha de Ródão. Cliffs, cork oak forests and steppe support relevant bird communities and other Mediterranean values.

What to watch out for

Look for entry points and viewpoints indicated throughout the park, complementing the river landscape with villages, rural heritage and responsible bird watching.

Prepare the visit

Summer temperatures are high and many paths are isolated. Bring water, do not disturb nests and confirm seasonal, fire and access restrictions.

Fit it into the journey

Castelo Branco, Idanha-a-Nova and Vila Velha de Ródão help to structure the approach, although the park requires its own planned journeys between entrance doors.
