Mountains, villages, water and several gateways to Portugal’s only National Park.

Peneda-Gerês National Park

Peneda-Gerês National Park covers mountain ranges, valleys, woodland, villages and waterways across five municipalities. There is no single Gerês centre: Soajo and Peneda, Mata de Albergaria, Campo do Gerês, Lindoso and Pitões das Júnias involve different roads and itineraries. The park protects habitats, communal landscapes and long-established pastoral practices, and access or parking may be regulated. Choose one sector per day, check fire restrictions and weather alerts, carry water and follow marked routes. Natural pools are not automatically supervised bathing areas; respect residents, livestock, closures and every instruction issued by park authorities.
