A rewarding road-route stop for Caldas de Aregos, cherry orchards and Douro slopes.

Resende

Resende occupies slopes on the south bank of the Douro and is known for its cherry production. Caldas de Aregos is its thermal and riverside nucleus; the Cárquere Monastery, churches and viewpoints are located in other areas of the municipality. On the EN222, Resende deserves its own stop before approaching the Douro wine region. From Vila Nova de Gaia to Almendra, a long road whose most celebrated section follows vineyards and the river in the Douro.
