Traveling by train allows you to connect cities and landscapes without driving. This guide brings together different experiences: regular panoramic services, seasonal tourist products and railway heritage. They are not all equivalent nor do they circulate all year round.
Douro Line
The route between Porto and Pocinho progressively follows the Douro, especially after Régua. Services and schedules may be changed due to works. Always confirm with CP and reserve space for calls.
Douro Historic Train
It is a seasonal tourist product between Régua and Tua, normally scheduled in summer and early autumn. Ticket, dates, locomotive and program must be confirmed for the year of travel; Do not confuse this product with the regular Douro Line trains.
Vouga and Macinhata
The Vouga Historic Train, known as Vouguinha, has a specific schedule and should not bebe presented as a permanent daily service. When available, it combines Aveiro, Águeda and the Macinhata do Vouga Railway Museum.
Other lines
The Beira Baixa Line reveals the Tagus and the central interior. There are also tourist programs and combined connections whose offer varies. Consult official operators and circulation notices.
Planning
Validate schedules a few days in advance, buy tickets through official channels and confirm accessibility, bicycle transport and road replacements. On regional lines, frequency may be reduced.
