These are not sea beaches inland

Each river beach has its own conditions: river, reservoir, dam or adapted bathing area. Surveillance, water quality, access and services vary by location and season.

North

Consider Azibo, Congida and river areas of the Lima, Cávado and Tâmega rivers. Adaúfe is a reference close to Braga, while Azibo and Congida allow you to combine bathing with protected landscape and Trás-os-Montes heritage.

Center

It is the region with the highest concentration. Explore Loriga and Valhelhas in Serra da Estrela; Peneda in Góis; Fragas de São Simão; beaches of Zêzere and the Aldeias do Xisto network. Choose a base by valley or mountain range.

Alentejo and south

Alqueva, Monsaraz, Amieira, Avis, Tapada Grande and Pego Fundo show very different environments. In the Algarve interior, confirm flow rates, extreme temperatures and vigilance before traveling.

Water safety

Prefer classified and monitored areas. Read signs, do not dive without knowing the depth, constantly monitor children and avoid banks, ponds and currents outside the bathing area. The Blue Flag is seasonal and must be confirmed in the year of the visit.

Choose responsibly

Confirm access, parking, bathrooms, shadows and capacity. Don't use detergents in the river, don't start a fire and take out all the trash. After heavy rain or fires, check local warnings and water quality.
